What is SEO?
SEO is shorthand for Search Engine Optimisation. SEO is the process and techniques used to ensure that any given web site is understood and ranked as well as possible in the search engines organic rankings.
All search engines use algorithms that are used to rank web sites by keyword and keyword phrase (the term keyword can also be used to mean a phrase made up of one or more words). When a user makes a search on the search engine it will take keyword phrase and then provide the user with the search results based on it’s algorithms.
The algorithms used by the search engines are all kept highly secret and operate in slightly different ways on each search engine. The search engines themselves are constantly tweaking, changing and testing their algorithms. SEO specialists there fore have to keep constantly testing and modifying their strategies to keep up to date with the latest thinking and best practice in the field.
